Kyambura, Bunyaruguru Constituency – Rubirizi District
In a show of gratitude and faith, David Katureebe Tugume, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru Constituency, hosted a thanksgiving ceremony at his home in Kyambura, Rubirizi District. The event, marked by prayer and community engagement, reinforced his deep-rooted commitment to both God and his people.
The special mass was led by Rev. Fr. Arinaitwe Ventina, Curate of Rugazi Parish, alongside Mrs. Agaba Christina, the Catechist of Kyambura Catholic Church. The service emphasized the intersection of faith and leadership, underlining the role of divine guidance in public service.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Mr. Isaac, the CID officer of Ntungamo, and the NRM Chairperson in Boston, USA. They joined Katureebe’s family, friends, and supporters in celebrating his journey and his aspirations for Bunyaruguru’s future.
Beyond a thanksgiving gathering, the event also became a platform to support community development. A total of UGX 2.2 million was raised for the construction of Kyambura Catholic Church, with Katureebe personally donating UGX 500,000 in cash and pledging 50 bags of cement for the project.

Katureebe David with some of his visitors
As the son of former Chief Justice Bart Katureebe, David has built a strong reputation through the David Katureebe Foundation, which has contributed significantly to the development of Bunyaruguru. Many locals see him as the best hope for the constituency, citing decades of unfulfilled promises by past leaders.
With the 2026 elections approaching, Katureebe is set to face off against incumbent John Ntamuhira and former area MP Benjamin Cadet. However, growing sentiment among local elders suggests a demand for new leadership.
“Cadet has contested and lost multiple times. Each time he loses, he disappears, only to reappear in another election. We can’t trust him anymore,” said Mwebembezi, an elder from Rutoto.
Another local, Jacinta, a businesswoman, praised Katureebe’s contributions, stating: “David has supported our children to join university, helped our churches, and given his father’s legacy, we trust that he will lobby for development projects from America, where he has been working.” While Ntamuhira is also accused of disappearing from the voters” Ntamuhira got lost in Kampala, again two terms are enough for him, we shall show him exit” said a Twinomujuni a local youth leader.
With mounting support from the community, Katureebe’s faith-driven approach and track record of service could prove pivotal in reshaping Bunyaruguru’s leadership landscape.
