Kampala, Uganda –

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has commended graduates of the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that postgraduate studies require immense sacrifice.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Tayebwa praised the graduands for their resilience, discipline, and determination—qualities that have propelled them to academic success.

Among the notable graduates were Dr. Rosemary Seninde, the Head of Mobilisation at the NRM Secretariat who earned a PhD, and Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga, the State Minister for ICT – National Guidance who completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration. The graduating class also included Members of Parliament, civil servants, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Tayebwa urged the graduates to view their academic achievements not as an endpoint but as the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and self-improvement. He emphasized the need for Uganda’s educated workforce to shift from merely accumulating qualifications to actively solving the country’s pressing challenges. “While our country has many graduates, there are too few who truly tackle the problems that we face. UMI, however, has built a strong reputation for nurturing problem-solvers,” he noted.

Encouraging patriotism, Tayebwa called upon the graduates to take pride in their nation and recognize Uganda as a land of opportunity where even the most ambitious dreams can be realized.

He expressed confidence that many of the graduates will rise to hold influential positions in both the public and private sectors.

The Deputy Speaker concluded by congratulating the graduates and reinforcing the importance of their role in shaping the nation’s future.
