Tayebwa Urges Kisoro Residents to Stay Loyal to NRM at Mutolere Parish Centenary Preparations

Kisoro District—Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has called on the people of Kisoro to remain united and steadfast in their support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. He made the remarks while officiating at the launch of preparations for Mutolere Catholic Parish’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

Joined by several leaders from Kisoro District, Tayebwa attended a special Mass marking the beginning of activities leading up to the centenary celebrations. Speaking at the event, he underscored the vital role that church institutions play in society, particularly in fostering unity, promoting education, and supporting healthcare services. He emphasized that religious institutions complement government efforts by providing essential services to the community.

“Mutolere Church’s centenary is not just a celebration of its longevity but also a testament to its unwavering commitment to serving the people. We must continue supporting such institutions that play a pivotal role in our society,” Tayebwa said.

Tayebwa also extended his gratitude to King Ceasor Mulenga and Rt. Rev. Bishop Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, for the invitation to the event.

 

President Museveni and Other Leaders Pledge Support.

In a significant boost to the centenary preparations, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni contributed UGX 500 million towards the restoration project for Mutolere Church. Other key contributions included;

Deputy Speaker Hon. Thomas Tayebwa who contributed UGX 100 million, King Ceasor Mulenga, Uganda’s Honorary Consul of Vietnam – UGX 100 million, Pius Bigirimana, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, along with his friends – UGX 100 million and Rtd. Gen. Kale Kayihura, Chairman of the Building Committee and former Inspector General of Police – UGX 33 million. Others included Hon. Seruganda – UGX 10 million, Hon. Paul Buchana – UGX 10 million, Hon. Nsaba Buturo – UGX 10 million, Hon. Akifeza Ngabirano – UGX 5 million, Hon. Eddy Kwizera – UGX 5 million, Hon. Kamara – UGX 5 millio and several other well-wishers

The generous contributions from the leaders and well-wishers highlight the collective effort to restore and preserve Mutolere Parish as it prepares for its historic milestone.
