Allocate enough resources for the youth and children – Speaker Among

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among has expressed his concern over failure to allocate enough resources for the youth and children. The Speaker Anita Among made the remarks on thursday during plenary session when the former Youth minister Felex Okot Ogong raised issues concerning the youths. Speaker Among expressed worry that the department of children in the Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development is allocated only 800 million a year while the youth council is allocated only 3 billion,.

The Speaker asked the Minister of Youth and Children Affairs Hon Sarah Mateke to present a report in regards to the youth venture capital fund and how many youths have benefited which the Minister promised to table. The Speaker said that the children constitute majority of the population and they should be catered for in the budget. She also said that youth programs should focus on village youths and not only those in town!
