The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among has warned investors not to use commission agents while bidding for government projects which she said increases the cost of investmnet. Among made the remarks while meeting with the executives of KEC International, an investor with interests in the energy sector, led by their Vice President Mr Mani Roger, at Parliament.
“I encouraged them to pursue their investment interests in the sector, and also warned them against eroding their critical capital base by using commission agents who sometimes burden them through creating unnecessary bureaucratic impediments which frustrate investors and also delay implementation of projects. When projects are advertised, it is important that all our investors bid according to laid down procedures, free from the burden imposed by commission agents whose currency of trade is bribery” Among stated.
Uganda has been calling on investors to invest in Uganda in order to create jobs and to develop the country’s economy. Uganda’s energy sector has been improving as we are about to produce 2000 mega watts of electricity.
