The president of Uganda Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has postponed his planned meeting with the Traders.
The postponement of the meeting came after the President held a meeting with the leaders of the Traders at State House in Entebbe ahead of the scheduled meeting with the Traders at Kololo which was supposed to take place on the 20th of June 2024.
In a closed door meeting today at State House, the President told the leaders of traders that the various State organs had not furnished him with the relevant information regarding the issues they raised when they met in May 2024 hence decided to postpone the planned meeting to the 31st of July 2024 when he will have gathered all the necessary information.
The meeting with the President by the traders came after a series of strikes by the traders in downtown Kampala over the EFRIS tax collection system which was being contested by the traders.
After a meeting at Kololo in May 2024, the President suspended some fines which had been applied on some business people over non compliance and promised to hold another meeting with them on 20th June 2024 after consultations.
So the traders will have to wait for an answer on July 30th when the President meets them again
