Rubirizi District – In a major boost to local infrastructure, David Katureebe Tugume, aspiring Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru Constituency, has led the successful rehabilitation of the Kirugu-Kashaka Road, stretching from Kafuro to Nsenyi. This much-needed project has brought renewed hope to a community that had long grappled with an impassable road network.

Bunyaruguru, located in Rubirizi District, is predominantly an agricultural area, and the poor state of the road had severely hampered the transportation of produce to markets, affecting farmers’ livelihoods and the overall local economy. For years, residents struggled to access basic services like schools, health centers, and trading centers, leaving the community isolated and underserved.

With the road now revitalized, local leaders and residents alike have praised the project, describing it as a “turning point” for Bunyaruguru. Speaking at the site, community leaders commended David Katureebe for his hands-on approach and thanked him for his tangible contribution to the development of their area.

“The rehabilitation of this road is not just about smoother travel; it’s about opening up opportunities,” one local leader remarked. “We thank David for not just making promises but taking action that directly impacts our lives.”

David emphasized that the project is part of his broader vision to drive economic growth, improve social connectivity, and enhance access to essential services within the constituency. “When communities are connected, economies grow, healthcare improves, and children access better education. This road is a step towards unlocking Bunyaruguru’s full potential,” David Katureebe said.

Farmers in the area are particularly optimistic, noting that better road conditions will significantly reduce the post-harvest losses they have endured due to delayed transportation. With quicker and safer access to markets, they anticipate better prices and increased incomes

The Kirugu-Kashaka road rehabilitation stands as a testament to the kind of leadership Bunyaruguru is beginning to experience — leadership that identifies real issues and implements practical solutions. As the constituency edges closer to the 2026 elections, Hon. Tugume’s efforts are seen as a reflection of his commitment to transformative leadership and community-centered development.

In the words of one elder at the commissioning event: “The morning dew glistens on the grass — a sign that a new day has begun for Bunyaruguru.”

With projects like these, Bunyaruguru’s future shines brighter, built on a foundation of action, not just words.
