Cecilia Ogwal died before publishing her book – Says MPs

Members of Parliament have disclosed that before her death Cecilia Ogwal had just started writing a book about her biography. The remarks were made during a special sitting to pay tribute to the slain legislator Cecilia Ogwal.

Cecilia Ogwal who succumbed to Cancer in India last week at the age of 77 was one of the most Senior legislators in the country who was very vocal and outspoken!

The information regarding the book that Ogwal was writing was revealed by the Sports Minister Peter Ogwang as he eulogized the fallen legislator, “I am aware that at the end of 2023, Atat (Cecilia Ogwal) was starting to work on her book project but her health could not allow this happen. I suggest that the family re-ignites this book project and that we as Parliament support the family in this effort” Peter Ogwang said.

Cecilia Ogwal joined Parliament in 1994 as a Constituent Assembly delegate and later as an MP in 2006 and has since been in Parliament. She was very vocal on issues of environment, human rights, governance and economy among others.

Ogwal was involved in the Administration of UPC since 1980s and went on to manage that Party when Obote was in exile after being overthrown in 1985. She remained in UPC up to 2006 when she joined FDC and has since been it’s member until her death.
