Former Member of Parliament Charles Ngabirano has officially declared his intention to reclaim a parliamentary seat, marking a determined return to active politics ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Ngabirano, who served in the 10th Parliament, picked nomination forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission to contest for the Rwampara East Constituency. The former legislator expressed strong motivation to revive and complete development initiatives that stalled after his exit from Parliament.

“When I served in the 10th Parliament, Rwampara had not yet achieved district status, and the constituency had not been split. Now that Rwampara East is a smaller and more focused constituency, I believe I can offer even more effective representation,” Ngabirano said.
During his previous tenure, Ngabirano spearheaded several grassroots initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, including a coffee growing project and the establishment of a cooperative society to support local farmers. These efforts, however, lost momentum following his departure from office.
“I want to pick up where I left off. The community needs sustainable income-generating programs, and I’m committed to enhancing household incomes through cooperative-based strategies that empower the people directly,” he emphasized.
