Rwampara, Uganda – March 29, 2025 – Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has called on men to abandon domestic violence and instead support women in fostering stronger communities. Tayebwa made the remarks while attending Rwampara District’s belated Women’s Day celebrations held on the 29th March 2025 at Kitunguru playground in Rwampara District.
Tayebwa joined Rwampara Woman MP Asiimwe Molly Musiime and several other MPs, local leaders, and residents in honoring the contributions of women.
Speaking at the event, Tayebwa emphasized the critical role women play in society, describing them as the “cornerstone of family stability, the driving force in the fight against poverty, and the pillars that keep our churches and schools thriving.” He noted that while Women’s Day is celebrated annually, the contributions of women should be recognized every day.
“Women deserve to be celebrated every day. Their vital contributions form the foundation of any functional community,” Tayebwa said.
