The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has hosted the UEFA President Alexander Ceferin as Uganda prepares itself to host African Cup of Nations in 2027.
The meeting was attended by the Sports Minister Hon Peter Ogwang, the Chairperson of Parliament of Uganda Football Club Hon Basalirwa Asuman , among others among others.
Thomas Tayebwa during a closed door meeting said that government has decided to invest in the sports sector.
“It is our strategy now as a country to invest in sports infrastructure because the return on investment is really huge.” said Thomas Tayebwa.
Tayebwa also said that the transformational potential of sports is undoubted.
The UEFA federation team also had a friendly group football match with the Parliament of Uganda team.
The meeting is intended to harness synergies and building partnerships between UEFA and Parliament of Uganda in promoting Football.
Uganda is set to host the African Cup of Nations alongside Kenya and Tanzania in 2027 which is expected to promote Ugandan sports and tourism potential.
