Gen Muhoozi arrives in Kigali for Kagame swearing in!

The Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has this evening arrived in the Rwanda’s Capital City Kigali ahead of the swearing in ceremony of Rwanda’s President Gen Paul Kagame.

Gen Muhoozi led a delegation of officials from the Ugandan government and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) to attend the highly anticipated event which will be held tomorrow (Sunday 11th August 2024) at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali – Rwanda.

Gen Muhoozi arrived aboard Uganda Airlines together with the delegation from Ugandan.

Gen Muhoozi who refers to Rwanda’s leader as his uncle has made close ties with him which manifested when he broke a deal that settled a dispute that had happened between Uganda and Rwanda which had subsequently led to the closure of the Uganda – Rwanda border for two years. since then Gen Muhoozi has on several occasions visited Gen Paul Kagame where they have discussed issues of mutual interest for the two countries.

Gen Muhoozi will also have private discussions with Gen Kagame and these are expected to touch issues of regional security, democracy and trade.

Kagame will be swearing in for his fourth term having served as a President since the year 2000. He won the election with a land slide victory of 99 percent.
