The Committee on Health has recommended for a funding to the tune of Shs51 billion to be provided in a phased manner for the establishment of four regional cardiac centres to deal with heart related diseases that has become a challenge in Uganda.
The submission was made during the interface of the Budget Committee with the Health Committee of Parliament on Wednesday this week chaired by Koboko Municipality MP Dr Ayume Charles.
While asking for the allocations, Ayume said that the cardiac centres improve access to heart services and supported a proposed 250-bed heart hospital to be built in Naguru with the signing of the financing agreement for the construction and equipping done.
The Budget Committee continues to receive submissions on the Budget Frame Work Paper from various committees of Parliament and these recommendations will be considered during Ministerial Policy Statements of the various Ministries!
