David Katureebe, the Aspirant for the Bunyaruguru County Member of Parliament has pledged to empower the youth through sports, scholarships and community development initiatives in Bunyaruguru County.
David Katureebe who is the son of former Chief Justice of Uganda Bart Katureebe made the remarks while officiating at the finals of David Katureebe Foundation Annual tournament at Kalagala in Bunyaruguru in Rubirizi District.

The tournament saw Rwandaro Coffee FC claim victory over Mubanda FC with a 1:0 scoreline, earning them a trophy and a full set of jerseys while Mubanda FC who were the runners up received UGX 300,000, while the third and fourth-place teams were awarded UGX 50,000 each. Women’s teams also received UGX 200,000 in support of their participation.
Speaking at the event, Katureebe urged the community to embrace sports as a vital driver of economic development. He highlighted the success of Bunyaruguru United FC, a club he founded, as an example of how sports can boost the local economy by creating income opportunities for traders and businesses.

Katureebe also used the platform to reaffirm his broader development agenda for Bunyaruguru. He emphasized his ongoing efforts in providing scholarships for youth, distributing coffee seedlings to support farmers, and facilitating access to health services. These initiatives, he explained, aim to equip the youth with opportunities for self-reliance and prosperity.
It should be noted that David Katureebe is sponsoring over 20 students at University with each sub county at least having a medical student, around 60 students being sponsored in various secondary schools and many more in primary schools.
Calling for continued support, Katureebe reminded the voters of his vision for a “New Voice, New Vision” in Bunyaruguru. He pledged to focus on unity and transformative leadership to propel the region towards a brighter future.
“Sports, education, and community service are the pillars of development. Together, we can build a better Bunyaruguru,” he said, leaving the crowd inspired and hopeful
