Hon. Fred Kangume, the councillor for Kimogora Parish, Mutunda subcounty, Kiryandongo District is nursing untold injuries.

Kangume was beaten by ISO boss Gen Taban Amin’s soldiers in the contested Ranch No.11, where many people have been forcefully evicted.

Kangume was beaten on 4th March 2024 from 8am to 8pm. Thinking he was dead, he was then thrown near his home.

Kangume who by last night couldn’t talk was taken to Kiryandongo hospital, but news soon reached that his tormentors were looking for him.

His relatives whisked him to an unknown place and are tight-lipped about his whereabouts.

The President needs to weigh in on the untouchable Taban, who orders caning of people, and some reportedly killed.

Years ago, Ranch 11 was given to some communities by the president, but also the same was recently given to an investor by Uganda land commission to grow sugacane. Taban is working for the investor.

Before the investor starts, land is temporary being hired out to ONLY West Nilers to grow maize. All others have been evicted.

All efforts by the community, local and Central government leaders to have solutions have failed.

Parliament of Uganda also failed, just like failed the Prime minister Rt Hon Robina Nabbanja.

State Lands minister Mayanja keeps promising, but never shows up about the same.

CMI and other investigators need to quickly investigate this. Kangume can still talk to explain who beat him.

He can positively identify them.

Being a General, it’s only The President who can take action on Taban.
