Kyambogo disabled student die 5 days to graduation!

Edward Mwenda was a student of Kyambogo University who was set to graduate with a Bachelor of Counseling and Guidance on 7th Dec 2023.

Mwenda met his death after getting involved in an accident in Lugazi along Jinja – Kampala High way on 1st Dec 2023. He was admitted at Lugazi Hospital in Buikwe District and later transfered to Mulago Hospital where a head operation was done, but died hours later on 2nd Dec 2023.

Mwenda was a disabled student in Lugazi while he was in Senior three in 2026 who was struggling to raise his tution until he met a well wisher called Ashaba Vincent who mobilized school fees for him until he finished senior six in 2018 which he passed. Vincent secured a government sponsorship with the help of NUDIPU, an association that brings together people living with Disabilities.

After securing a government sponsorship, he joined Kyambogo University where he pursued a Bachelor of Counseling and Guidance and he was set to graduate on 7th Dec 2023!

Ashaba Vincent who sponsored Mwenda Edwards education while speaking to our reporter expressed his pain, “I cleared his graduation fees last week, It was a huge testimony for a person I met with no hope, but he was a processional counselor who was going to give hope to millions, but he has just died 5 days to his graduation” Vincent said!

Mwenda was buried today (Monday 4th Dec 2023) in Butaleja District at their ancestral home!
