Lubaga RDC Burora Hands Over Office; Says He Chose Conscience Over Job

The embattled Lubaga Division Deputy Resident District Herbert Anderson Burora has handed over office emphasizing that he chose conscience rather than remaining just on job.

On Monday, Burora handed over the office to the Kampala Central Division Deputy RCC Doreen Keita as directed by the Permanent Secretary to the office of the President Hajji Yunus Kakande.

“Today, I handed over The Office of the Deputy Resident City Commissioner in Lubaga Division. 5years and 5month of my Service are worth bowing out honorably. It’s not about the office/Job as Madam Anita thought, it’s about the Service. I had all the options to choose the Job or to remain true to my conscience. I chose the latter”, said Burora on X formerly known as Twitter.

He added that “in my tour of duty, there are those that I didn’t satisfy for one reason or the other, but majorly, I served the way I was supposed to do. I may not be able to measure my legacy, as a representative of the President, but I’m sure there is no single day that I didn’t represent him to the best of my knowledge.”

According to Burora, on Thursday, 21st March 2024, he will hold a Press Conference and expound more broadly.

Burora was suspended on March 14th 2024 for alleged violation of official advice moments after attending a meeting that faulted him.

“In that meeting, you were faulted to have violated official advice to the extent that you continued to issue or utter statements to the social media without express authority from your line supervisors. Therefore, you failed to satisfy the meeting or give justifiable reasons for your continued actions”, said Kakande

He said Burora’s suspension was for 28 days with effect from March 15th 2024.

Burora’s suspension came   a day after Speaker of Parliament Anita Among met President Museveni in State House on Wednesday last week. It is alleged that Burora was suspended after a thread of posts on his social media platforms criticizing the Speaker for being corrupt and extravagant.

Shortly after learning that he was suspended, Burora posted that he cannot kneel before Anita.

“Over my grave will my children see a picture of me kneeling before Anita Among. Karma is a bitch. Rt Dishonorable Atutta Attuba Atumalawo welcome to the mud”, Burora posted on X.
