The Minister of State in charge of Economic Monitoring in the office of the President has visited the Kayabwe Fruit Factory in Mpigi district in a bid to renovate the factory.
Minister Beatrice Akello visited the said factory after reports that it was not functioning properly despite funding from the government.
Kayabwe Fruit Factory was started by the residents of Kasaka Mothers Union in Central Buganda diocese and was supported by modern machinery and funds worth 853m through Uganda Industrial Research Institute. The funding was a Presidential pledge in a bid to improve livelihoods of the members of the mother’s union as well as job creation.

However the factory has been functioning poorly which caused Minister Akello to meet the stakeholders to see how best it can be rejuvenated.
The meeting was attended by the Bishop of Central Buganda Rt Rev Michela Lubowa and the leaders of the said factory and they discussed ways of having the factory function properly.
A number of measures were discussed and the Minister pledged to keep following up with them until the factory picks up.
Minister Beatrice Akello has been moving around the country monitoring several government programs which is aimed at ensuring better service delivery and economy development.
