Museveni meets Chinese delegation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met the Chinese delegation which was earlier in the day hosted by the Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa.

The delegation from the National People’s Congress of China led by the Standing Committee’s Deputy Chairperson, H.E Luòsāng Jiāngcūn was hosted by the President at State House Entebbe.

The delegation is in the country to asses Uganda’s preparations for the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit scheduled for January 15, 2024.

“I thank the Chinese who have been cooperating with us for many years in various sectors; Agriculture, Energy, Infrastructure development, ICT, and many other projects,” said Museveni.

The President also applauded the support of the United Nations (UN) Security Council reforms which advocates for two permanent seats for Africa.

Africa’s 1.3b people are not represented at the UN Security Council while Europe’s 800 million population have two representatives in Britain and France.

Museveni encouraged China to open further its markets for processed coffee and other products.

“Africa’s problem of raw material exports, I would like to encourage China to open their market more for processed coffee and other products,” asserted Museveni.
