Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadija Namyalo has blasted the first son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba that he needs to know leadership and power cannot be inherited like monarchs do.
Namyalo the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman of the Ruling National Resistance Movement -ONC ,said on Wednesday that Uganda is not a Kingdom where after the death of the ruling king or leader, the next person in the lineage assumes leadership or power through hereditary rule.
“Museveni is still on the ballot. For those who thought he is not going to seek re-election, I challenge you that power cannot be inherited. These are not monarchy issues that one has to get ready to inherit power. Power cannot be inherited here “, Namyalo emphasized.
She made the remarks on Wednesday while being interviewed by Journalists on the sidelines of the event where President Museveni was launching the Registration Update of the NRM Members at the Party Secretariat in Kampala.
This is not the first time that an official from the ONC Kyambogo based office is blasting Muhoozi publicly. Like the saying goes “when you go for a robbery mission while carrying a baby on your back, that baby will obviously learn a very bad example from those carrying her , so is the case with Namyalo and her Coordinators”.
Last week, the ONC Coordinator for Greater Masaka Jamil Kazibwe said that they will not support General Muhoozi because Uganda is not ruled under the monarchy system.
“It is only President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni whom we are giving a chance to rule Uganda but not any other member of his family”, said Kazibwe.
He added that “we shall support him in 2026 and then in 2031, Ugandan’s will decide whom they prefer. As if this was not enough, Kazibwe went on to add that “Even if President Museveni orders us to support Muhoozi, we shall rebel. Muhoozi is not going to be President here in Uganda”.
These are statements that many of Muhoozi’s supporters think that are being said, recklessly, unreasonably and irrationally without thinking, wondering what if the General is voted for by the citizens in line with their powers enshrined in the Constitution. Will it be a Monarchy system as Namyalo and her Coordinator Kazibwe have strongly stated in the recent past? Or it will be by the people’s choice in line with Article 1 of the Constitution which states that all authority in the State emanates from the people of Uganda and the people shall be governed through their will and consent.
Muhoozi the Chairperson of Patriotic League of Uganda-PLU, a Civic Pressure Group has since declared his Presidential ambitions come 2026. He is on March 15th 2024 expected to be in Masaka for PLU Baraza.
