The National Unity Platform National Executive Committee has resolved to appoint Zaake Francis Butebi the Mityana Municipality MP to replace the Nyendo Mukungwe MP Rt Hon Mathias Mpuuga as a Parliamentary Commissioner.

The decision was communicated by the NUP Vice President Dr Lina Zedriga who is acting as the President in the absence of Kyagulanyi who is away on official duties.

According to the press statement, the National Executive Committee looked into the explanation of Mpuuga in a response that he wrote and found it not convincing enough as it is viewed as corruption and therefore decided to recall him and to appoint Zaake Francis to his position.

According to the NUP, Zaake was re-appointed on account that he was illegally removed from the Commission according to them which was intended to pave the way for corruption to take place in Parliament.

“NEC further resolved to nominate Hon Zaake Francis as a Parliamentary Commissioner. His nomination was informed by the fact that he was illegally removed from the role in March 2022, in order to pave way for the grand corruption and questionable dealings of the Parliamentary Commission that have now come to light” the statement reads!

NEC will formally communicate to Parliament for this decision
