Parliament of Uganda has passed 17 billon shillings for the renovation of Nambole stadium ahead of verification to host the 2027 African Cup of nations!
The money was passed during the 3.5 trillion budget that was presented by the Minister of Finance General Duties, Henry Musasizi!
Nambole Stadium which happens to be the national stadium has been undergoing renovations by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces engineering brigade since 2021 and the works are about to be completed.
Sports fans have previously criticized the government when Uganda has been forced to host games in other countries like Tanzania, Cameroon or Egypt due to lack of stadium that is satified!
With this 17bn allocated, Ugandans are optmistic that they stadium will be competed in time. As Uganda plans to host the African Cup of Nations alongside Tanzania and Kenya, a Total of 4 stadiums are needed for each county and if Nambole is finished, it will be a step in the right direction!
