Recruitment of LDUs in Rwenzori start, to deal with ADF rebels!

After a surprise attack in which the ADF rebels killed ten people in Kamwenge District on Monday night, President Museveni directed for resumption of LDUs in the areas suroundeding Queen Elizabeth National Park ans Kibale National Park.

Since the the operations Jan began and are being coordinated by James Birungi Ozo on behalf of State House and he will be working with othet security agencies to handle the process and Col James Asingura on behalf of UPDF. The local leaders, GISO, Police are also helping in the co-ordination exercise!

 

According to Ozo over 140 trainees turned up for recruitment in the subcounties of Kamwenge Town Council, Kamwenge Subcounty, Kahunge Subcounty, Bigodi Town Council, Rukunyu Town Council, Kabuga Town Council and Kahunge Sub County which all boarder with Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Ozo said that these LDUs are going to be trained in districts of Bunyangabu, Kamwenge and Kitagwenda and will be helping security in doing intelligence, being vigilantes in the community and generally helping security in the area.

ADF rebels attacked Kyabandara parish in Kamwenge District where 10 people were killed. Two weeks ago two ADF rebels were killed in Kibale National Park in Kamwenge District and it is believed that it’s out of retaliation that the rebels attacked Kamwenge.

Meanwhile the President said that the hunt for ADF in DRC continues and is making progress with most of the rebels being killed.
