The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anitah Annet Among, has this morning flagged off the Parliamentary team that is going to represent Uganda in the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games slated to kick off tomorrow in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Speaker asked the team to ensure they use the 12-day tournament to ‘widen, deepen and tighten the East African Community’ because that is core spirit of the Community.
“I want to thank you so much for going for these games, and I want to thank you for the devotion you have put in training every day, you make us proud as Parliament of Uganda, you know the principles of the East African Community, it is to widen, deepen and tighten,” said the Speaker.
Honourable Asuman Basalirwa who is also the Chairperson Parliamentary Sports Club assured the Speaker that Team Uganda will defend its title as the champions and promised that the country’s image will be maintained until the end of the Games.
