The Speaker of Parliament of Uganda Rt Hon Anita Among has paid a visit at Nambole National stadium to check the progress of the renovation works after reports that the work done is substandard.

Last week Parliament was told that experts from the Confederation of African Cup were not satisfied with the work which meant that chances of Uganda co-hosting the African Cup of Nations in 2027 were minimal. This prompted the Minister to invite the Speaker and legislators to visit the facility to appreciate the ongoing works!

Speaker Among led a delegation of MPs to the facility this morning and according to her she was happy for the work being done

“I am extremely impressed by the UPDF Engineering Brigade for what you have done at Namboole Stadium” said Speaker Among.

The Speaker also confirmed that the needed money by the UPDF had been availed and therefore hoped that the work was going to be completed in time.

“I want to thank the Parliament of Uganda for ensuring that the money that was required by the UPDF Engineering Brigade was released on Friday and should be in your account today. Before the money was released, completion was forecasted to take one month, now that you have the money, we can talk about 2 weeks because our interest is to host the games” said Speaker Among during her visit.

The Speaker thanked the President of Uganda for supporting sports.

“I want to thank the President of Uganda for being passionate about sports and as the Chairperson said, sports is one of the things that unites Ugandans irrespective of their political and religious affiliations” said Among.

She also appreciated the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni who also is the Minister for Education and Sports for spearheading this project.

“I want to thank the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni for her immense efforts in ensuring that Namboole is what it is up to now” said Among
