We are ready for the Speakers Conference – Speaker Among!

The Speaker of Parliament of Uganda the Rt Hon Anita Among has addressed the media ahead of the Common Wealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference to be held in Kampala from 3rd to 6th January to 2024. “I want to report that we are well prepared to start receiving delegates for the Conference” said Among whole addressing the press at Parliament.

Among also informed the country that some Speakers and their delegations were set to arrive tomorrow 1st January 2024. “The first batch of Speakers and presiding officers will jet into the country on the first of January , a few hours from now and all arrangements have been put in place to accord them the true Ugandan welcome” Among said.

Among informed the country that 43 delegations had confirmed attending the said conference, “43 delegations have as of today confirmed attendance” Among said.

She also said that the Speakers of the Republic of South Sudan and the East African Legislative Assembly have accepted to attend as special guests as provided for in the standing rules of the conference.

She argued Ugandans to give them the hospitality needed so as to make the events colorful. “I want to urge all of us to accord our visitors the Ugandan hospitality and show them what makes us the pearl of Africa”

She also asked Ugandans to take advantage of the business opportunities that the conference brings to the country. “I also want to encourage our citizens to take advantage of the business opportunities that come with the number of delegates expected in the country” said Among.

She also said that the conference is a testament of Uganda’s positioning at the global stage and our desire to relate with the rest of the world through mutual respect and shared interests.
