The President of Uganda Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned those promoting homosexuality saying that Uganda is a blessed country and they should not play around with it.

Museveni made the remarks during the Uganda Martyrs celebrations at Namugongo Catholic shrine where he was the Chief guest.

“Those talking of homosexuality should know that Uganda is a blessed country and a country of Martyrs, they should go slow with it” said Museveni.

Museveni made these statements amidst sanctions against the Speaker of Parliament by the United States and the United Kingdom which many analysts say is because the Speaker Spearheaded the Anti gay law.

He also warned young people who just embrace European ideas instead of bothering about the future of Africa.

“Young people spend so much time watching European football; you don’t bother with what is happening here in Africa. Somebody asked, Mr Museveni, what football club do you support? I said what? What club?” said Museveni as he empathized the need to promote the East African federation.

Museveni also used the event to condemn corruption which the preachers had condemned during summons.

“Some of the speakers have talked about corruption. I agree, that corruption is becoming a problem and when I address the state of the nation, I will talk about it in detail,” said President Kaguta Museveni
