The Minister for Works, Gen Katumba Wamala, is today expected to tell Parliament the status of Kampala-Jinja Expressway.
Last week, the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury (PSST), Mr Ramathan Ggoobi told Parliament that the project should kick-off by June this year.
The four-lane toll highway was supposed to take shape in 2015 but the Government has been finalizing on a couple of technical glitches which Ggoobi said they are almost done.
The Minister is expected to explain to Parliament exactly when the project will kick off, the cost implications, the impact of the Project-Affected Persons (PAPs) among other issues and details.
The current Kampala-Jinja highway needs an overhaul on most sections and it is a menace to the motorists due to the huge traffic causing financial loss in billions.
Kampala-Jinja expressway will be the second toll highway in the country after the Entebbe expressway.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Agriculture, Hon Frank Tumwebaze is expected to make a statement on the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the cattle corridor and the resultant quarantine.
