The Member of Parliament for Kazo County Constituency, Hon Dan Kimosho, has warned the Ministry of Agriculture against a total quarantine in the cattle corridor noting that the move will affect the livelihoods who solely depend on animal sales for their survival.

Kimosho said that it is a poor timing for the Ministry to impose a total quarantine since parents are sending back their children to school for the first term.

“The Ministry of Agriculture has been on record that they can’t afford to vaccinate animals as is required from the Government coffers, and now, they have issued a circular for total quarantine on animals and animal products. We are talking about children going back to school,  we are talking about people with loans that they need to clear,  and you are telling them that you are issuing total quarantine,” said Kimosho.

Among the affected districts include; Bukedea, Luwero, Kassanda, Kumi, Mbarara, Nakaseke,  Gomba, Isingiro, Kazo, Kayunga, Mityana, Mpigi, Kiruhura, Kabarole, Sembabule among others.
