Let us harness trade and investment among Africans and our allies

President Museveni has called on leaders across Africa to harness trade and investment among Africans and close allies of Africa.

In a message read by the Vice President, HE Jessica Alupo, at the ongoing East Africa Trade and Investment Forum at Serena Hotel in Kampala, President Museveni said that Africa is endowed with abundance of natural resources which are of a huge potential.

“Our philosophy is to provide a one-stop centre for investors and this service is available at the Uganda Investment Authority,” said Museveni.

Speaker after speaker, all highlited Uganda’s investment potential and pointed out the areas for investment.

Minister of Finance,  Hon Matia Kasaija, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Trade, Minister for Investment Hon Evelyn Anita, Mrs Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa and the United Nations Development Programme’s representative Ms Elsie Attafuah, Mr Jan Sadek the EU representative to Uganda were some of the notable speakers.

“As we gather here to explore trade and investment opportunities, tourism is undoubtedly a big opportunity for investment here in Uganda. Tourism is one of the most significant sectors in the economies of East Africa with a significant contribution to the GDP,” said Attafuah.

Alupo thanked Attafuah for the ‘kind words about Uganda’ and noted that Uganda will continue to thrive under the visionary leadership of President Museveni.

Over 100 investors are expected to seal investment deals worth Shs378b with Uganda Investment Authority, Private Sector Foundation of Uganda and, Uganda Chambers of Commerce and Industry, among others.
