The Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya who has been bedridden at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi for three months now is no longer unconscious.

This has been revealed by Ssegirinya’s Personal Assistant Alex Luwemba who returned from the hospital last week.

Luwemba says the legislator is now able to speak, to eat, to walk and identify and recognize his visitors contrary to how he went there on December 23rd 2023.

He adds that however Ssegirinya still needs people’s prayers to have a complete recovery for multiple organ complications for which he is battling.

Luwemba made the revelation today at the International Crimes Division of the High Court when the case in which Ssegirinya and his Makindye West Counterpart Aloysius Allan Ssewanyana and four others are accused of terrorism came up to Court.

The legislators together with Jackson Kanyike, John Mugerwa, Bull Wamala, and Mike Sserwadda, are accused of terrorism, murder, and attempted murder in connection with the wave of machete killings that occurred in the greater Masaka District in 2021 claiming over 20 lives and injuring numerous others.

The case came up to day for an update regarding the health condition of Ssegirinya and also to find out if Lawyer Geoffrey Turyamusiima who represents one of the accused persons Mike Serwadda had filed an application seeking to dismiss the charges against his client on grounds of torture.
