Kampala, April 29th, 2024 –

A chilling incident of attempted murder sent shockwaves through Katwe today as the territorial police launched a full-scale investigation into the harrowing events that transpired around 10:30 am.

Reports indicate that an unidentified assailant, armed with a panga, forcibly entered the residence of 25-year-old Ms. Ayebare Anita, a resident of Bongole Zone. The assailant barged in while Ms. Ayebare was having breakfast with her children, setting the scene for a terrifying ordeal.

Demanding an exorbitant sum of five million in cash, the assailant threatened violence when met with resistance from Ms. Ayebare. Shockingly, the aggression turned towards her innocent children: Atuhaire Lucia (2 yrs), Ampaire Maria Zoe (5 yrs), Musiime Blair (7 yrs), and Ankunda Godius (14 yrs).

However, swift action from both local residents and the nearby police stationed at Mirimu thwarted the assailant’s intentions. Despite his apprehension, it was discovered that the assailant had inflicted injuries on the children, prompting an urgent rush to Nalujja Medical Center on Batata Entebbe road for critical medical attention.

Tragically, the children’s condition remains precarious, highlighting the severity of the attack. Meanwhile, the body of the suspect has been conveyed to the city mortuary in Mulago for postmortem examination, as investigators work tirelessly to unravel his identity and motive.

The community remains on edge as authorities vow to provide further updates on this developing story. Stay tuned for more details as the investigation progresses.
