Governor Mutebile Fires Bagyenda from BOU

Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile the Governor Bank of Uganda has fired Justine Bagyenda the Executive Director in charge of Supervision over scandals. Mutebile has gone ahead to recruit Dr Tumubweine who has been

working at Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) as the Director Industry Affairs and Content Economic Affairs

Bagyenda has been one of the most powerful directors at BOU which resulted into accumulated of uncounted wealthy. Recently,she came into limelight in the scandal that involved the closure of trust bank,Bakiga commercial bank and Crane bank. Under her supervision,BOU had to hire external lawyers of MKS Masembe and Mpanga and company advocates to represent a case a city Tycoon Sudhir Rupaleria’ defunct Crane Bank. Public demanded for her resignation but she kept on hanging on the job until the Governor had to fire her. Mutebile has gone ahead to make some changes where Mary Katarikawe will serve as Executive Director Operations while Joyce Okello is the new Executive Director and Personal Assistant to the Governor. David Kalyango will serve as the Internal Auditor.

Richard Mayebo has been appointed Executive Director Risk and Strategic Management. Mutebile also released a list of new directors: Dr Charles ABuka (Statistics), Dr Kenneth Egesa (Fianncial Stability), Valentine Ojangole (Banking), Olive Kamuli (Medical Administrator), Mackay Aumo (National Payments Systems). Director in charge of Communications Christine Alupo has been transferred to head the Board Affair Department. She is being replaced by Charity Mugumya. Hannington Waswa will take charge of the Commercial Banking Department while Ben Sekabira is the head of Financial Markets Development Coordination. Edward Mugerwa is now the new director IT Operations Department . Other Executive Directors are Phillip Wabulya (Petroleum Investment Fund), Elliot Mwebya (Information Technology) and Deborah Kabahweza (Finance).
