Panicky Airtel Uganda Boss Quits Job

The Airtel Uganda Managing Director Anwar Soussa has resigned from his position due to unclear circumstances

The reasons as to why Anwar who has been at the mantle of the company for close to two years hanged his boots is not yet clear.

According to a source at the company, the CEO Raghu in emails shared to them only said Anwar had made a decision to take up an opportunity outside Airtel.

He joined Airtel in May 2015 in Chad and subsequently moved to Uganda in June 2016 to take up his current role.

During his tenure, Uganda was awarded the best performing mobile network operator (Opco) in Africa, Best OpCo in data growth and Best OpCo in distribution excellence at the 2017 Dubai Conclave.

The CEO noted that VG Somasekhar, currently Director – Special Projects, will be taking over from Anwar effective 1st of September, 2017.
